Installation of Risers

We add a vertical extension pipes from the top openings (access lids) of a septic tank up to ground level so the tank can be easily accessed for maintenance. A secure lid is installed and then we backfill around the riser. It makes future pumping and inspections easier, preventing repeated digging and yard damage.

WHAT IS A RISER?

A riser is usually a cylindrical pipe made of plastic (PVC or polyethylene) or sometimes concrete that attaches to the tank’s access ports. These pipes extend upward until the lid sits at or just below the surface of the yard.

WHY INSTALL ONE?

Older septic systems often have lids buried 6 inches to several feet underground. Without risers, every inspection or pumping requires digging. Risers solve this by:

Bringing the access lids to ground level
Making pumping and inspections much easier
Preventing repeated digging and yard damage
Allowing quick access in case of problems

INSTALLATION PROCESS

Typical installation steps include:

Locate and dig up the septic tank lids
Clean and prepare the opening
Attach riser sections to the tank opening with sealant and screws
Stack riser sections until they reach the desired height
Install a secure lid (often child-safe and bolted)
